About Us [Chi Siamo]
The Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSIA) is the largest and oldest national organization for men and women of Italian heritage in the United States. Founded in 1905 as a mutual aid society for the early Italian immigrants, today OSIA has more than 600,000 members and supporters and a network of more than 650 chapters, coast to coast, making it the leading service and advocacy organization for the nation's estimated 26 million people of Italian descent.
The Annapolis Lodge (#2225), Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, was established in 1970 and acquired the current lodge building at 620 Ridgely Avenue in 1986. Activities at the lodge include member events such as dinners, clubs, and group activities. The lodge also holds a number of public fundraising events to support charitable contributions and scholarships. Principal charitable beneficiaries include the Alzheimer's Association, the Foundation for Autism, and Cooley's anemia, as well as local charities in the Annapolis area. Additionally, the Lodge awards annual scholarships to students of Italian descent. The Annapolis lodge interacts and works closely with other Maryland OSDIA lodges as well as the Grand Lodge of Maryland.
